I am passionate about working with individuals navigating attachment wounds, trauma, complex trauma, and experiences of grief and loss. I also find meaning in helping clients explore current life and relationship patterns that contribute to distress, anxiety, depression, and codependency.

Supporting fellow therapists, educators, and helpers in our community is especially important to me. In addition to providing therapy, I offer consultation for clinicians who are new to the field or pursuing EMDR certification—a part of my work I deeply value.
I am committed to inclusivity across all identities, bodies, and abilities. I actively support body positivity, self-compassion, and work from an antiracist framework in both my personal and professional life. I also strive to be a dedicated ally to the LGBTQIA+ community.

Robin Wolfe, LCSW

Welcome

I have a deep respect for the complexity of midlife and the many transitions it can bring. Whether you’re coping with the loss of a loved one, navigating a divorce, supporting aging parents, adjusting to an empty nest, or transitioning out of the workforce, you don’t have to do it alone. Originally from upstate New York, I have called Wilmington home for the past six years and value the balance of connection and community that the area offers.

Drawing on both lived experience and trauma-informed training, I support clients in making sense of these changes and moving toward a place of greater clarity, steadiness, and growth.

I’m here to walk beside you.

My Approach

As a certified grief educator and end-of-life doula, I bring both depth and compassion to my work. My approach is grounded in evidence-based care, with a strong emphasis on Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help process trauma, grief, and loss.

I tailor therapy to each person’s unique needs, integrating EMDR with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and grief-focused work to support healing, resilience, and meaningful change.

Anxiety & Overwhelm

I also work with individuals experiencing anxiety in its many forms—from ongoing stress and overwhelm to perfectionism that can feel paralyzing.

Together, we focus on settling self-criticism, easing internal distress, and building practical, real-world tools that help you feel more grounded and able to engage more fully in your life.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a best practice therapy modality used to treat post traumatic stress disorder. There is also evidence to indicate its use with painful memories connected to anxiety and depression as well as interpersonal relationship struggles.

How does it work?

EMDR utilizes dual attention through tactile, visual or auditory senses. The dual attention lowers distress level (desensitization) and allows for reprocessing of traumatic material. Our brains are neuroplastic (constantly changing or adapting as new information is received) and will naturally heal much like our body will naturally heal from an injury. However, when there is an injury, our brain can sometimes lock this information in our nervous system and continue to signal to us that anything representing any part of this material is dangerous. EMDR enables us to move this “stuck” material through our nervous systems where it can be adaptively stored.
Strategies for strengthening the benefits:
Attachment resourcing, IFS informed techniques and Dialetical Behavioral skills are used before beginning desensitization, as well as throughout the EMDR processing, to ensure that there are skills such as distress tolerance, mindfulness, emotional regulation and compassion strategies necessary for healing. The therapy process ultimately will allow us to create more awareness, compassion, connectedness and peace in our personal lives and our system as a whole.

Beneath the surface of the protective parts of trauma survivors there exists an undamaged essence, a Self that is confident, curious, and calm, a Self that has been sheltered from destruction by the various protectors that have emerged in their efforts to ensure survival. Once those protectors trust that it is safe to separate, the Self will spontaneously emerge, and the parts can be enlisted in the healing process
